Everyone is always banging on about Thermomix mashed potato and yes they are delicious and yes they are easy but after enjoying pourable potatoes for a year I'd had enough and wanted a return to my good ole stiff mashed potatoes. So here is how I do my potatoes.
Fill the basket with chopped potatoes. Personally I use the purple spuds so I peel mine but of course if you use the white flesh you don't have to.
Fill the bowl with 500-800g water.
Put any vegetables I want to steam in the Varoma (generally my carrots or pumpkin)
Cook for 20 minutes at Varoma Speed 3-4. Green vegetables go into the top Varoma tray when there is about 5 minutes left on the timer.
Once cooked, drain the water, put spuds in the bowl along with a good knob of butter and small splash of milk and then mash on Speed 3. This takes a lot longer but I think it is worth it. Keep checking after every 20-30 seconds to see the consistency and stop once your preferred has been reached.
