For those that know me now will know that my dogs are pretty spoilt so it goes without saying that Santa Pup will be visiting us this year (yay!!) So as a special treat for my puppies I thought I'd give this recipe a go that my mum found on a Facebook site (Over Sixty). This has been converted so you too can share with your pets. I used a beef stock cube as opposed to Vegetable Stock Paste due to the onion. Just didn't want to take the risk. Of course if you were making a batch without the onion or making chicken stock paste without the onion I am sure these would be terrific. My boys were sceptical when they first saw these but then woofed them down. Hope your furry kids enjoy them too. Eb x
- 500g plain flour
- 80g milk powder
- 1 beef stock cube
- 230g water
- 2 eggs
- Food colouring
- ½ tsp peppermint essence
Place all ingredients into the bowl and mix on Speed 6 for 5 seconds. Set to Closed Lid (TM31) and turn to Interval (Wheat) and knead for 2 minutes.
Divide into halves. Add 1 half to the bowl and add red colouring and knead until the colour is well mixed.
Add other half with green food colouring and do the same.
Place in the fridge for an hour. Then on a mat roll into long pieces and twist into candy canes. Brush with egg wash.
Bake at 180deg for 12-15 minutes.
I have kept mine in the freezer to keep them fresh.
